Eva Mendes might have to wait a little bit longer until her kids think she's cool.
The Place Beyond The Pines actress—who shares Esmeralda, 10, and Amada, 8 with partner Ryan Gosling—recently revealed what her daughters think of her movies and, well, they're "not impressed."
Eva told Jimmy Fallon during a Sept. 18 appearance on The Tonight Show that her girls haven't seen any of her movies because "they don't care."
"It's like, I tried to show them—this was about a year ago—I tried to show them a scene from Hitch that I was actually proud of, because I'm scared of deep, dark water," she said, referring to the film's famous jet ski scene with onscreen love interest Will Smith. "I had to do this physical comedy stunt thing in the Hudson. Anyway, I was so scared. So, I faced a fear that day and did this stunt, and I was proud of it."
The Desi, Mami, and The Never-Ending Worries author added that she once unsuccessfully tried to use the story behind that scene as inspiration for her daughters.
"One time one of my girls was scared, and I'm like, 'Oh, an opportunity to, like, show off what I, you know,'" Eva laughed. "I played it for them, and I was like, 'This is Mama facing her fear.' And, anyway, they were not impressed at all!"
The 50-year-old added, "They were just like, 'Oh, cool, Mama! Can we go outside?'"
While Eva and Ryan's daughters might not have been very interested in their mom's past projects, there is at least one of their dad's that caught their eye: Barbie, which saw their dad take on the role of Ken.
While Eva and Ryan are famously protective of their private lives with their kids—making inside glimpses into life at home an infrequent occurrence— they did take a rare outing with their daughters at the Paris Olympics in August.
The couple had their daughters in tow when they attended women's gymnastics uneven bars final and, despite it being such a public televised event, everyone seemed to respect their privacy by not showing their daughters on screen.
"I love @nbcolympics didn't cut away to the kids," Eva wrote on Instagram after their outing. "And most sites blurred their faces so mama bear is happy about that. Anyway it felt so good to be there and feel unified with people."
She added, "they were great about not posing the kids so l'm a grateful mama bear."
