Now that they have been eliminated from Concacaf Champions Cup play, Inter Miami CF has been able to focus solely on Major League Soccer competition and the results have shown.
Miami has won three straight games to vault to the top of the Eastern Conference. Lionel Messi has scored five goals in those three wins to become the frontrunner for the league's Golden Boot award. Messi's nine goals lead the eight apiece scored by Real Salt Lake's Cristian Arango and D.C. United's Christian Benteke. This week, Messi and his pink-clad soccer footballers host a top contender in the New York Red Bulls, who defeated a Messi-less Inter Miami 4-0 on March 23.
The Columbus Crew, meanwhile, get the weekend off after a stunning semifinal rout of Liga MX powerhouse Monterrey in the Concacaf Champions Cup semifinals. The Crew won the second leg 3-1 in Monterrey on Wednesday night to win 5-2 on aggregate. Remember, this is the same Monterrey squad that pummeled star-studded Inter Miami in the quarterfinals. The Crew will visit Pachuca at Estadio Hidalgo for the final on June 1. Only one MLS club has won the Concacaf Champions Cup/League in the competition's modern era: The Seattle Sounders in 2022.

On Saturday, Messi's pits his red-hot form against a Red Bulls squad that is nipping at the heels of the almighty Herons of Inter Miami in the Eastern Conference. Through 10 games, the Red Bulls have lost just once, and that came on March 16 against the reigning MLS Cup winner Columbus Crew, who currently are on an epic Concacaf Champions Cup run.
